The Chemical Imaging and Structures Laboratory at the University of Illinois, headed by Bioengineering Professor Rohit Bhargava, focuses on utilizing Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy to diagnose diseased human tissue. The group was relatively new when I joined in Spring 2006, and so it was in need of a well-organized, elegant website to showcase the group's accomplishments in addition to providing information for prospective new members.
Over the course of a week, I designed the website to be both visually appealing and easy to navigate through. I also created a modern logo which represented the group's main research focus, the infrared spectrum. With a University of Illinois-themed color scheme and a simple navigation system located prominently on the page, the website also incorporated links to the departmental and college affiliates on campus which were required for a research group website.
